Creativity has power. It has magic.
It gives hope.
Janet Redfield, stained glass artisan, arrived at her current profession after majoring in art at college, but pursuing a career in writing instead. Six years later, while on a trip to see a solar eclipse, she saw instead a stunning stained glass window. Janet immediately began studying stained glass window technique with Jean Jacques Duval in New York City, where she learned that stained glass was one of the loves of her life.
Following a wild success at a wholesale show for craft gallery buyers, Janet and her glass-cutting tools moved to Maine. Here she met the other love of her life, married, had a son and has remained ever since. She designs and makes stained glass windows, hanging panels, room dividers, doors and fused glass tiles and vessels in her workshop located in Lincolnville, Maine.
Janet Redfield’s stained glass work has been exhibited in various galleries nationwide, installed in public buildings throughout the state of Maine, and lights up numerous residential windows. She creates one of a kind windows by commission, working primarily in mouth blown glass (called antique) from Germany. In addition, kiln-formed fused glass has become a major part of her work.
